Central tasks

Working students have the opportunity to work directly on energy transition projects in Germany and Europe. As a working student, you will get a good and quick insight into project work and support our team with varied tasks. The focus of this call is on the topic of Just Transition, where we support coal regions in Europe in their transition to a low-carbon economy. However, you also have the opportunity to support projects in the areas of renewable energy (e.g. bioenergy) and climate protection. Your areas of work roughly include the following:

  • Support of projects for public clients, e.g. the European Commission or the Federal Government
  • Work on projects to support a Just Transition from coal regions (or industrial sites) to a sustainable economy in various European countries, esp. Support from:
    • the creation of research, data analyses, brief analyses, "knowledge tools" and presentations
    • the organisational and content-related planning of workshops and events within the framework of technical support for regions
    • the implementation of peer-2-peer exchange formats
  • Preparation of meetings with clients and representatives of the coal regions
  • Supporting the visibility of our projects by using social networks as a communication platform

What you need:

  • Enrolled in a relevant bachelor's or master's degree program (e.g. (renewable) energy (systems), engineering, sustainability/transformation, political science, etc.)
  • have permission to work as a working student in Germany.
  • Be available as a working student for at least 1 year

What you should bring:

  • Great curiosity and/or experience in the field of Just Transition, transformation processes, renewable energies, development of a sustainable economy
  • Ability to work in a team and the willingness and ability to work effectively and efficiently in interdisciplinary and international teams
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and quickly develop a good understanding of project goals and our clients' expectations
  • Confident communication and presentation of research results
  • Experience in dealing with Microsoft Office products
  • Critical thinker with a keen eye for detail and creative in solving problems
  • Fluent in German and English; other languages such as Polish or Portuguese are a plus
