Consultant – Economist/Finance expert

We wish to engage an experienced economist/finance expert for a project based long term position in our international Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Finance department. The position is based in Central America.

The activities of our Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Finance department are focusing on Green Economy, Responsible, Sustainable Finance in Latin America, South Eastern Europe and the MENA region. In the framework of our holistic consulting approach, you work at the interface of finance, engineering and policy advisory as you will be able to evaluate and supervise projects. We work with regional development banks as well as with commercial banks and project developers.

The position covers the following working areas:
  • Advise to regional development banks in the implementation of a targeted credit line
  • Introduction of Green credit lines in regional commercial banks
  • Evaluation of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency project proposals
  • Coordination of a team of short term engineering and finance experts
  • Development of Project management and monitoring system and implementation of project management
Anforderungen: 
The position has the following requirements:
  • Economist or similar university degree. Post graduate qualifications would be considered as an asset.
  • Min. of 10 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Excellent language and communication skills in both Spanish and English ‐ both written and spoken ‐ are essential. Additional knowledge of German is an asset
  • Team player with a creative and enthusiastic personality
  • Availability of a Long‐term position in Central America with frequent regional traveling
  • Profound experience in financing of Renewable Energy (RE) and Energy Efficiency (EE) projects
  • Experience in the analysis of feasibility studies and / or technical due diligences of RE and / or EE projects,
  • Experience in environmental and social due diligences would be an asset.
  • Experience in the placement and management of partial credit guarantees, as a component or complementary measure of the financing.
  • Knowledge about the financing modalities of development banks.
  • Knowledge about monitoring of project indicators.
  • Knowledge about the financing modalities of commercial banks / state owned banks / finance institutions, amongst others, of cooperative banks.
  • Experience in emerging markets, preferably in Latin America.
  • Experience with international environmental and social standards, and with the monitoring of RE and / or EE projects (especially IFC performance standards).
