It promotes the use of carbon market mechanisms and carbon pricing to implement climate action by supporting the private and public sector in East Africa. Moreover, the project aims to enhance regional cooperation among the Eastern African countries by supporting the Eastern African Alliance on Carbon Markets and Climate Finance. The Alliance focuses to strengthen capacities of the member countries as well as offer a platform where countries can share experiences and foster a regional approach towards the future international carbon mechanism of Article 6, carbon pricing and climate finance. Your tasks Collect, update and communicate information on climate change related aspects with a special focus on international carbon markets, carbon pricing instruments, NDC and Climate Change LTS Support the preparation and conduct of technical guidance in the development and implementation of climate change policies and strategies at both national and regional level Support in developing strategies, technical concepts, studies and project reports Develop progress reports, concepts and policy briefs for the commissioning donor agencies and ministries Plan, coordinate and document workshops, trainings and other project activities Develop and disseminate public relations materials that increase the visibility of activities among relevant stakeholders Your profile University degree in renewable energy, economics, climate change, environment, sustainability, natural resources or any other related field Strong knowledge of international climate change discussions and relevant international frameworks such as the UN Framework for Climate Change Convention and the Paris Agreement Good knowledge on international carbon markets and carbon pricing approaches in developing countries Good knowledge on mitigation aspects of NDC and Climate Change LTS Very strong communication skills and very good presentation skills Good working knowledge of IT-Communication technologies and computer applications Fluency in English, German would be an advantage Location information Place of residence: Kampala Climate: sub-tropical Health care: good local medical facilities (hospitals, clinics andspecialist doctors) Shopping and other supplies: very good range of shops (almost European standard), many international restaurants Travel to location: regular flights to Entebbe international airport Schools and school fees: good international schools. The school fees are reimbursed according to the GIZ guidelines.
