We are looking for an enthusiastic new colleague for a position as Advisor Intenational Climate Policy and Climate Finance.

the greenwerk. advocates fair and sustainable use of global resources, access to renewable energies for all and the ambitious implementation of the Paris Agreement. We offer advisory services in the field of climate and energy policy, with a focus on instruments and activities for GHG reduction, the promotion of renewable energies and climate finance. Our expertise is based on many years of experience in climate policy and the energy sector and, in particular, in the practical implementation and analytical support of instruments, processes and negotiations under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). the greenwerk. was founded in 2014 and currently has 8 permanent employees. We also work with a network of experts.

The tasks comprise: 

  • Project management, overseeing of project processes, communication with clients and coordination of stakeholder engagement processes

  • Elaboration of funding proposals for international donors and climate funds (Green Climate Fund (GCF), Global Environment Facility (GEF), NAMA Facility, etc.)

  • Support of GCF Readiness and Support Programme Activities

  • Advising ministries and implementing / donor organizations on international climate policy and climate finance

  • Support and processing of various advisory / research / analytical activities on aspects of international climate policy and finance

  • Working in partnership with our international clients, including on-site assignments (mainly in the global South)

  • Various activities in management and contribution to projects, acquisition processes and business development

Start and Venue:

  • As soon as possible in Hamburg

Anforderungen: 
  • Completed studies (master's or similar) with a background in engineering, environmental sciences, economics, political sciences or similar

  • 3-5 years of professional experience in a similar field, as advisor with project responsibility and experience in development cooperation

  • Practical experience with GCF (Readiness and Support Programme, Funding Proposals), GEF (project proposal development) or NAMA Facility (NSP development)

  • Knowledge of international climate policy / finance

  • Robust understanding of the determination, calculation and evaluation of GHG emission reductions in various sectors is an advantage

  • Experiences in climate-relevant sectors, especially in the energy, transport and / or industrial sector are an advantage

  • Independent and result-oriented working style as well as strong communication skills and ability to lead project teams

  • Careful way of working and very good knowledge of the fundamentals of scientific work

  • Willingness to travel internationally

  • Proficient German and English skills, other languages are of advantage, especially Spanish

  • Very good knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), advanced Excel knowledge is an advantage
